Happy New Year, Legends! Since meeting so many great new customers and pups in Pittsburgh back in November, we’ve had you on our minds. 2021 was a lively, yet challenging year for most. Through thick and thin, our furry friends were there for us. To get the year off on the right paw, Legend is announcing our 2022 Winter Benefit.
For the next month, we will be donating a portion of our earnings to Buffalo Underdogs Rescue, out of Buffalo, NY. Buffalo Underdogs is an all-breed, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization. BUR saves dogs in Western New York as well as from a rural kill shelter in Eastern Texas. They pull dogs from shelters and transport them to their awaiting foster homes, in the Buffalo area. While providing a safe home environment for the dogs, they receive necessary vetting, begin the process of training and socialization, and prepare them to become members of a loving family.
We were just told of one of their most recent rescue situations in Texas. A two-year-old Border Collie mix, Mimi, was found emaciated, thin and with an intestinal tract infection called, “Coccidia.” Mimi’s owner had left her tied in the back yard for a whole week with no care. One of the worst parts of this story is that Mimi’s six, four-week-old puppies were included in the abuse. Mimi has tested positive for heartworms. Animal Control has requested that files be charged on the owner.

Legend Dog Wellness had the pleasure of working with the Buffalo Underdogs crew and their pups, for a holiday photoshoot. Their positive energy and dedication to their cause was so apparent. We are pleased to once again be able to work with this fantastic and beneficial organization. The care and operational costs of running an animal shelter are NOT inexpensive. Legend is pledging to match up to $500 for this cause.
